OFFICIAL DOS DESCRIPTION
- Divers are heavily-armed units dispatched by the DOS to explore, investigate, and neutralize CORAL, as well as other threats from THE REEF. During recruitment, Divers will learn all about the process of “diving”, the act of venturing into SHOALS, zones where the Reef’s influence on the world is greatest.
Prior to dives, Divers typically undergo a series of cognitive tests and equipment calibrations to ensure that they are fully prepared for their missions.
Diver squads typically consist of five members: a Researcher, a Carrier, a Stabilizer, and two Specialists.
The Researcher is in charge of analyzing the Reef and collecting data on any and all supernatural entities the squad might encounter.
The Carrier is the bulkiest of the squad, equipped with numerous containers and extra storage units on their back to store any excess artifacts and dead Coral the squad might find or collect.
The Stabilizer is armed with switches that control the Divers’ Anchors and their sole purpose is to protect the squad by monitoring their stress levels, thought current, emotional signature, and mental state. If the need arises, they may be forced to render unstable Divers unconscious.
The Specialists are the most heavily-armed and are in charge of protecting everyone else in the squad.
EQUIPMENT LIST
The equipment of Divers is designed with modularity and ease-of-use in mind. Everything is manufactured in-house by the Department of Stability.
ANCHOR
- Divers will always be equipped with standard ANCHORS, skull-mounted devices that protect their minds from the influence of the Reef, tuned to their thought current and mental state. These must be calibrated before every dive.DSAR-31
- Standard-issue assault rifle, manufactured by the DOS. 31-bullet capacity magazines, long barrel for precision, and a multitude of attachment options for maximum utility. Typically carried by Specialists.DSP-9
- Standard-issue pistol, manufactured by the DOS. 9-bullet capacity magazines, long barrel for precision, integral suppressor. Equipped by all Divers.PRECISION SAW
- A small electric saw used to sever Coral and turn it into dead Coral to be used later. Typically carried by the Researcher.DC BOX
- A transparent box made of RPM3 that contains a sealed vacuum, used to transport dead Coral safely and keep its effects in a sealed environment. Typically carried by the Carrier.O2 CANISTERS
- Rather than carry one large oxygen tank, Divers are equipped with several small, bottle-sized oxygen canisters, each with one hour’s worth of fresh oxygen. These canisters are easily attached and connected to Diver helmets, and were designed in case Divers needed to giving canisters to one another. Each Diver is equipped with three canisters.IDEOFLUID TUBE
- A tube with the sole purpose of collecting samples of IDEOFLUID to test. Typically carried by the Researcher.
